The Senate Committee on Judiciary has legislative jurisdiction over matters related to courts and judges, civil and criminal procedure, real and personal property, corporate law and workers' compensation. The committee has jurisdiction over contract issues including landlord and tenant, mortgages, debtor and creditor, liens and the Uniform Commercial Code. The Judiciary Committee also has legislative authority over some areas related to children, including the childrens' code and juvenile code, child custody and support, adoption proceedings and parental rights. The committee frequently works with the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Office of the Attorney General, the District Attorneys Council, the Oklahoma Indigent Defense System, the Department of Human Services, the Office of Juvenile Affairs and the Workers' Compensation Commission.
