  • Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation? "Pro-Life" (votesmart.org)
  • "Hallelujah! Praise God! I applaud the Supreme Court for rightfully repealing Roe v. Wade, destroying the nearly five decades-long unconstitutional ruling of the federal court that justified the murder of millions of innocent babies. Today’s decision marks a major victory in the fight to protect the first and most fundamental unalienable right — the right to life. I look forward to pro-life states, including my home state of Georgia, valuing life at all stages and enacting legislation to defend the unborn." (clyde.house.gov)
  • Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare? "No" (votesmart.org)

  • "As a nation, we are overtaxed. If Americans are to truly be free, we must drastically decrease taxes and the size of the government those taxes fund. Andrew's tax plan would be simple: 1. Eliminate graduated taxes and implement a FairTax system [H.R.25] 2. Stop taxation on the production of goods [pass H.R. 25] 3. Dismantle the IRS [pass H.R. 25]" (www.clyde4congress.com)

  • "For the second time this Congress, the House has effectively exercised its exclusive legislative authority, outlined in Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 of the Constitution, to block another severely misguided bill from the D.C. Council, which puts criminals first and police officers last," said Clyde. "After losing almost 1,200 officers over the last two years due to the Council’s legislation, the Metropolitan Police Department continues to operate in an officer deficit amidst the District’s chaotic crime crisis. By passing my resolution, this body has firmly rejected the Council's anti-police law, reaffirmed our support of heroic law enforcement officers, and underscored the importance of protecting Americans’ safety in Washington. I thank my colleagues for passing my commonsense resolution with bipartisan support, and I now urge both the Senate and the White House to choose people over politics by joining our effort to improve public safety in our nation’s capital city." • Voted in favor of HR 347 "Reduce Exacerbated Inflation Negatively Impacting the Nation Act" (None)
  • "Joe Biden isn’t "forgiving" or "canceling" another $1.2 billion in student loan debt. He’s simply forcing American taxpayers to foot the bill." (twitter.com)
  • "There is no such thing as student loan debt "forgiveness" or "cancelation." Joe Biden’s misguided policy simply transfers the burden to repay the loan from the borrower to the American taxpayer. This is legally and morally wrong." (x.com)
  • "Surrendered: Defunding Joe Biden’s student loan "forgiveness" schemes." (twitter.com)
  • "Nearly 60% of Americans are concerned that canceling student loan debt will make inflation WORSE. Yet Joe Biden is planning a pricey student loan bailout anyway—exacerbating 40-year high inflation that continues to burden all Americans." (x.com)
  • Voted against HR 5746 "Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act" (votesmart.org)
  • "Just tell that to TSA the next time you try to get on an airplane, or to your local gun dealer when you try to buy a gun. In fact, if we are going to eliminate a valid government-issued photo ID for constitutional voting rights, then let's eliminate the need for photo ID to exercise your Second Amendment too. The hypocrisy by the liberal left to eliminate voter ID is stunning. Trust starts by States taking steps to verify that all votes are legal and cast by eligible voters. That is why we must verify citizenship and require picture identification." (None)
  • "Let me get this straight…Democrats believe voter ID laws are racist—but vaccine ID mandates are righteous. ABSURD!" (x.com)

  • Voted against HR 1446 "Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021" (None)
  • "The Constitutional Gun Rights of American citizens, enshrined in the 2nd Amendment, have been losing ground since the Revenue Act of 1918 imposed a 10 percent tax on the sale of firearms. In 1934, the National Firearms Act imposed a flat $200 tax on the transfer of new categories of firearms like short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers/sound suppressors. In 1937, the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act (often called the Pittman-Robertson Act) increased the tax on ammunition and rifles to 11%. Now, some cities like Seattle, WA have implemented a $25 tax on every firearm sold and up to a 5-cent tax on every round of ammunition sold. Territories like the Northern Mariana Islands implemented a $1,000 tax on the sale of every handgun in 2016 when their outright ban was struck down by the courts. So the question needs to be asked, "How can a Constitutional right be taxed?" If it can be taxed then it is no longer an inalienable right but only a privilege to be enjoyed only by those who can afford to pay the tax. In 1819, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court stated that the "power to tax includes the power to destroy." So, If the Second Amendment can be legally taxed, then it can be taxed out of existence by raising the tax so high that no average citizen can afford it. This would effectively eliminate the right to keep and bear arms."imposed a flat $200 tax on the transfer of new categories of firearms like short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers/sound suppressors. • Voted against HR 6833 "The Affordable Insulin Now Act" (votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of H Res 1065 "Denouncing the Biden administration's immigration policies." (None)
  • "CUT spending and SECURE the border." (x.com)
  • "The radical open-border policies of the Biden Administration and the House Democrats have led to a crisis at our southern border. They ended the construction of the border wall, supported mass releases of immigrants into the United States, and stopped President Trump's successful "Remain in Mexico" policy. Now, the border patrol is experiencing record numbers of encounters at the border, confiscating record amounts of illegal drugs including Fentanyl, and human trafficking has become a 13 BILLION dollar industry for the cartel. " (www.clyde4congress.com)
  • Voted in favor of HR 5283 "Protecting our Communities from Failure to Secure the Border Act" (None)
  • "President Biden's raging border crisis and the harm it inflicts on our great country, the dangerous catastrophes that I simply cannot ignore. We are talking about over 2 million illegal crossings in a single year, thousands of pounds of fentanyl seized, as we just talked about, and an unknown number of illegal migrants, some with criminal records, some on the terrorist watch list, released into hundreds of communities across the Nation." (None)
  • "Joe Biden is reportedly considering a plan to provide amnesty to illegal aliens who have been in the U.S. for 10+ years. Democrats’ radical immigration agenda is designed to import new voters. We must stop this insanity from destroying our country." (twitter.com)
  • "Migrant Protection Protocols like Remain in Mexico" were created to keep asylum seekers in Mexico prior to their immigration court dates. .@POTUS wants to gut this process - doing so will increase the number of illegals flooding into our country!" (twitter.com)
  • Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship? "Yes" (votesmart.org)
  • Voted in favor of HR 7217 "Israel Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024" (None)
  • "Congress must pass my legislation to redesignate the Iran-backed Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization and reinstate sanctions on the group." (x.com)
  • "The Nord Stream 2 pipeline is a significant threat to US interests and NATO. This pipeline will expand Russian influence throughout Europe, damage our national security interests, and reduce our energy exports. @POTUS must stand with our allies & reimpose sanctions now!" (x.com)
  • "Given Hamas’ barbaric terrorist attack on October 7th and ongoing assault against our greatest Middle Eastern ally, Israel, this legislation is not only timely but imperative," said Clyde. "We must ensure Israel has the resources needed to successfully defeat evil Iran-backed Hamas terrorists so it can protect its citizens. In addition to bolstering Israel’s defense capabilities, House Republicans’ supplemental aid package strengthens our own national security by replenishing our domestic defense stockpiles. Thankfully, under Speaker Johnson’s leadership, this legislation is also fully offset by rescissions from bloated IRS funding in President Biden’s severely misguided Inflation ‘Expansion’ Act — providing a commonsense solution to support our ally in its time of need without placing an additional financial burden on American taxpayers. I proudly Voted in favor of this necessary and fiscally responsible supplemental aid bill, and I remain committed to fortifying both the U.S. and Israel’s national security amidst increasing threats from our adversaries across the globe." (clyde.house.gov)
  • "I can’t believe I have to say this…But NO member of Congress should support sending another $60 billion to Ukraine—which is more than the entire budget of the U.S. Marine Corps. That is the definition of America LAST." (x.com)
  • "22 Senate Republicans Voted in favor of the foreign aid bill that sends $60 billion to Ukraine—which is more than the entire budget of the U.S. Marine Corps. With Republicans like these, who needs Democrats?" (twitter.com)
  • "Earlier this morning while most of America was sleeping, the Senate passed a $95 billion foreign aid package. It funnels $60 billion to Ukraine—yet does nothing to secure OUR borders. Total betrayal of the American people. I’m glad this nonsense is DOA in the House." (twitter.com)
  • Voted against HR 5692 "Ukraine Security Assistance and Oversight Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024" (None)
  • "The First Amendment is alive and well. Yet the federal government is circumventing the Constitution by using Big Tech to carry out its bidding of censoring Americans’ speech. My Free Speech Defense Act ends this government-by-proxy censorship." (x.com)
  • "Big Tech censored the truth. Legacy media denied the truth. Government officials hid the truth. Americans deserve accountability." (x.com)
  • Voted in favor of HR 7521: "Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act" (votesmart.org)
  • "There should be ZERO collusion between the federal government and Big Tech to censor Americans’ First Amendment freedoms, period. My Free Speech Defense Act will end this government-by-proxy censorship once and for all." (x.com)
This candidate has responded to a Political Courage Test in a previous election. As a continued effort to provide the American public with factual information on candidates running for public office, these archived responses are made available here.
Pro-life Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
No Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
We must make sure those entering and on retirement are still taken care of as they have already paid into the system.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Yes Do you support the protection of government officials, including law enforcement officers, from personal liability in civil lawsuits concerning alleged misconduct?
Yes Do you support increasing defense spending?
I agree with increasing defense spending where it is needed however, I do not believe in frivolous spending. As a military supply officer, I understand the funding of military operations as well as the war fighting side.
No Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support providing financial relief to businesses AND/OR corporations negatively impacted by the state of national emergency for COVID-19?
I believe in providing financial relief for businesses through tax incentives, not bailouts.
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
No Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
No Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
No Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
I support deregulation of the firearms industry, removal of all excise taxes on firearms and ammunition and removal of suppressions from the NFA.
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
No Do you support requiring businesses to provide paid medical leave during public health crises, such as COVID-19?
Yes Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
Yes Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
I believe that we should reduce our presence in the Middle Eastern conflicts only where we do not have a direct national security interest. We must continue to support and defend our democratic ally, Israel.
Yes Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
I do agree that targeted, temporary tariffs should be used to punish bad actors and those who manipulate currency in order to economically disadvantage our economy and businesses.
I will fight to reduce the size of our federal government. This includes, but is not limited too, deregulating the 2nd Amendment by eliminating the taxation of firearms and passing the Hearing Protection Act. I will work to dismantle the corrupt IRS and implement a tax on the consumption of goods and services. We must protect the lives of the unborn (defund Planned Parenthood) and preserve the lives of those who have fought to defend our country. We can improve the VA by eliminating the bloat, not by increased spending.
