Priority Issues:
As a prosecutor with more than two decades of experience in the courtroom, Teresa Hensley believes in making sure that the law is carried out fairly and equally for ALL Missourians. She is the only one in the race who has a proven record of going the extra mile for the most vulnerable among us. As "The People's Attorney," she will aggressively prosecute law breakers, protect victims, and keep our communities safe. These are her priorities in office.
STANDING UP FOR CHILDREN. Teresa made child protection one of her top priorities as a prosecutor, winning more than 90 child sex abuse convictions, prosecuting hundreds of domestic abusers and sexual predators, and creating a special division in her office to provide child victims of abuse with professional and compassionate care in difficult times.
PROTECTING SENIORS. As a prosecutor, Teresa fought scammers who specifically target seniors. Not only did she put people in jail for fraud, but she also sponsored educational programs for seniors to provide them with the information they needed to avoid being victimized in the first place.
TOUGH ON CRIMINALS. Teresa has the most experience tackling violent crime of any candidate for Attorney General. She has spent 24 years in the courtroom, including a decade as Cass County's top prosecutor. She has hundreds of successful felony convictions under her belt.
SUPPORTING VICTIMS. In addition to her record of prosecuting hundreds of people for violent sexual assaults, Teresa created a women's safety program in her county that helped provide access to safe spaces and even training on how to fight back when possible.
SUPPORT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT. Teresa is endorsed by the Fraternal Order of Police. The FOP knows that she is the kind of prosecutor who has the backs of our law enforcement officers, puts dangerous criminals behind bars, and ensures that the law is enforced fairly for all Missourians.
ENFORCE THE LAW EQUALLY FOR EVERYONE. As Missouri's "People's Attorney," Teresa will make sure that the law and our system of justice is applied equally for everyone. She will work to bridge the trust gap between police officers and communities of color. She will also aggressively prosecute public figures who break the law, rooting out the culture of corruption in Jefferson City, and investigating and prosecuting those who abuse the public trust, regardless of their political party.
