Reason for Seeking Public Office:

A friend told me recently that when you run for public office, you are applying for a job, a job to represent the residents of your district.

I would like to apply for that job. If you choose to hire me on November 8th, my pledge to you is that I will always remember that I WORK FOR YOU. I would be proud and honored to represent the city of Leominster on Beacon Hill.

I moved to Leominster in 1974 when there was a business opportunity with four possible locations. I chose Leominster because it looked like a city with great potential.

Since 1974, Leominster has changed a from manufacturing based economy to a diversified economy with strong health care, retail and small and medium sized manufacturing sectors. While there are opportunities, there is still a need for improvement. With an unemployment rate approximately 1% higher than the state wide average, Leominster needs a state representative on Beacon Hill that will remind them that Massachusetts does not stop at 495 or Devens.

As your state representative, I will oppose any tax increase, new taxes or new laws that make it more difficult for local businesses to compete. I look forward to working with the city and state to bring new businesses and jobs to Leominster. I will be a strong advocate for Leominster. In other words, I will be "A voice not an echo on Beacon Hill".

A government has a responsibility to provide to its citizens the resources for public safety such as police, fire and emergency services.

A government has a responsibility to provide its citizens safe roads, bridges and other infrastructure.

A government has a responsibility to provide educational opportunities for its citizens.

To fulfill its responsibilities, the government needs to collect a certain amount of taxes. However, a government has a responsibility to spend those tax dollars wisely. As your state representative, I will ensure that the residents of Leominster get "Value for their tax dollars".

Another issue that I will address as your state representative is drug abuse or as it is called today "the opioid crisis". As long as I can remember, we have been fighting the war on drugs and we are losing.

We need new comprehensive and creative approaches to prevent addiction. These approaches must include: reducing over prescription of addictive pain medications, opposing the legalization of gateway drugs such as marijuana and promoting educational programs such as Sheriff Lew's "Face to Face" program.

We must also require a degree of personal responsibility. The concept of everyone being a victim needs to end.

I see drug abuse as a public issue. As your state representative, I will be a strong advocate for new comprehensive and creative solutions. Incarceration as the only solution is not the answer.

In conclusion, if you hire me on November 8th to represent you on Beacon Hill, I assure you… I will be your voice not an echo on Beacon Hill.
