2004 recipient of the Kathie C. Peyton Award for Outstanding Volunteerism in the Kanawha Valley
Father's Occupation:
My father was a union postal worker and later a public school bus driver
Favorite President and Why:
Lyndon B. Johnson. President Johnson was cursed with the war in Vietnam, but in the long view of history he will be judged as a great president for his compassion and efforts on behalf of the elderly, minorities and the financially oppressed.
Mother's Occupation:
My mother worked as a nurse until she retired at age 75
Person Most Want to Meet (Dead or Alive):
Abraham Lincoln
Personal Hero and Why:
My father, Tom Peyton. He was a good and gentle man who worked hard along with my mother to give me and my sister more than he had. He worked too hard and died too young.
Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I am well qualified by life experience to serve as a member of the House of Representatives. I want to promote an attitudinal shift towards increasing demand by putting more money in the pockets of workers. I abhor the climate of selfishness that now permeates our country.
