Priority Issues:

"I am excited to bring new ideas and new leadership to the Gold Dome. I will work to promote ideas that will foster our area's entrepreneurial drive and help small businesses succeed in creating jobs and opportunity for our area. Houston County has been blessed with strong leaders in the past, but we can't become complacent. There is still work to be done. We need to build on educating a new work force, simplifying our tax code and encouraging personal responsibility."

Shaw Blackmon's perspective on representing Houston County in our state's government is very straightforward:

Make smart decisions that provide citizens with a tangible and sustainable return for taxpayer dollar investments.

Reason for Seeking Public Office:

Shaw believes that he has been called to duty to put his skill set, background and relationships to work for his district on a larger scale. He will continue to focus on the issues near to his heart and his background --strengthening our defense community, enhancing education, and getting government out of the way of small businesses so that Houston County can continue to grow and thrive for future generations.
