Reason for Seeking Public Office:
I'm running because we need the American people to lead America's economic recovery, not politicians. I'm running to fight for the American dream -- where if you work hard and play by the rules, you can get ahead.
I'm running because we need to re-establish American economic independence. If we owe less, we own more of our own future. And when the American people are free to succeed, there's no limit to what we can accomplish.
You see my wife Kelly and I have 3 kids in college, and every year we sit down to put together a budget because, like all American families, we don't spend what we don't have. That's not how it has always worked in our nations capital. There's still more to do, but we've finally forced Washington sit down and put together its budget -- and I'm proud to be a part of that solution.
I've worked to repeal the healthcare law every chance I've had. My wife Kelly has been a registered nurse for 20 years, and she reminds me every day that Ohioans deserve easier access to better care, not lost coverage and skyrocketing health costs. I've also made cutting wasteful spending a top priority, and not just by talking about it. I actually introduced a bill that would cut $200 billion in government waste and duplicative programs. That's just Northeast Ohio common sense.
I've fought for the Great Lakes, Northeast Ohio's greatest economic and environmental resource, by ensuring Lake Erie receives the funding it needs to continue to be an economic powerhouse and source of job creation.
We've been able to accomplish a lot and It's been the honor of a lifetime to serve you over the past 16 months. But we're all in this together, and there's a lot more we need to do. For my wife Kelly and our family, this is personal. This is about making America more competitive, more innovative and more productive and I'd be honored if you join me in that fight.
Thank you,
Dave Joyce
