Reason for Seeking Public Office:
It's easier to say first why I am not running: a.) I am not looking for a job. I have enough work on my own and why would I want to find work that keeps me away from my family for several months in the spring?; b.) This is not an ego trip. I consider the title "Representative" as one of humility and respect. The idea of representing others is a heavy responsibility I do not take lightly. Personally, I gain my satisfaction not through a title but in my faith and family.
So, why am I running? I think we can do better in this state. The leaders we now have are disregarding the interests of us in West-central Minnesota. Tax policy is hurting our small businesses. Regulations burden our farmers. Education is not what it could be. Family values are continually under attack by liberal St. Paul thinking. I am running because I believe I have the skills necessary to serve my district well. I believe everyone has a responsibility to serve our communities, state, and country in some capacity, if even to vote. This is how I can serve at this time.
