Reason for Seeking Public Office:

PURPOSE
I am running to be the district 21 Representative because Alaska needs to fix its state government beginning with our elected leaders. Government should be a last resort not a first resource. Alaska is at a low point on many issues and what we have been doing has not been changing the outcome.
ISSUES MOTIVATING MY PURPOSE
It is unacceptable that Alaska has the largest spending budgets in our states history, The highest suicide rates in state history, the highest sexual assault rates in state history, and the lowest oil production in past three decades (33 years). THESE MUST IMPROVE!
Alaska can also claim one of America's lowest performing K-12 educational systems. We spend the third most of any state in the country. After the 490 proposals, decades of wasted time and hundreds of millions of dollars we still have no gas line to speak of. After 50 years of statehood its unthinkable that Alaska still has ongoing unresolved issues, on every major topic, between the State of Alaska and Alaska Natives. THIS IS WRONG AND UNACCEPTABLE!
Alaska is experiencing its lowest salmon returns in state history, and still declining, while commercial harvest are at record levels. We are also experiencing a declining wildlife population resulting in the lowest moose population in state history. Our management philosophy and practices are clearly not working. THINGS MUST BE CHANGED!
We keep trying political solutions for rural public safety issues rather than real performance based solutions based on root causes of crime. AN IMMEDIATE PARADIGM SHIFT IN PHILOSOPHICAL THINKING MUST TAKE PLACE! Our low state standards for learning performance and low expectations from our schools and teachers is unacceptable. THIS MUST IMPROVE NOW!
We are weak and timid on Arctic policy discussions at the national level and its almost as though our politicians are taking a lackadaisical approach to development projects. Alaska is following, not leading and being reactive vs proactive on every major issue that we face. INTELLIGENT LEADERSHIP IS NEEDED IMMEDIATELY!
