Reason for Seeking Public Office:

"I am so proud to have had the privilege of representing the great people of the 59th district for close to three years in the State Assembly. Over the course of my time in office, I've worked diligently to address the 59th district's and California's biggest challenges. Issues like fighting to keep our community safer, protecting immigrant rights, increasing funding for local neighborhood schools, reforming our state's criminal justice system by focusing more on reducing recidivism rates through rehabilitation and job-training, treating the mentally ill, keeping our state economically competitive to generate more good paying middle class jobs, safeguarding workers' rights, getting more California students into our colleges and universities and conserving water to help the state grapple with our drought crisis-- all have been among my top priorities."

"These are the issues that are on the forefront of California's public policy debates, and while we've made enormous strides over these last few years, new challenges persist, and my advocacy for the 59th district must go on. That's why I am running for re-election-- to continue fighting for progress, for meaningful reforms that address social and economic justice, and for a better quality of life for the residents in the 59th District. I look forward to a spirited campaign and plan to work hard to win on Election Day."
