National Intern Spotlight: Megan Riley

9 July 2012

Where are you from and what school do you attend?
I am from Arizona and attend Arizona State University.

What do you study?
I am majoring in Political Science with a few certificates.

What made you want to intern here?
I have used votesmart.org for the last few years and I love voter-education, especially through mass media. I was really excited to come up here and learn more about how PVS researches and disperses so much information.

What is your typical day like?
I typically go through a state race's candidate spreadsheet and update their biography information. I sometimes go through the US Senate committees and ensure we have the correct members on each committee.

What special projects are you working on?
In my first few weeks here I updated our Voter Registration section of the website.

What do you do in your free time here?
I go hiking sometimes and enjoy the awesome Montana landscapes, but I love to spend a lot of my time catching up on reading.

Why do you feel Project Vote Smart is important?
I think we all need to make informed political decisions and PVS helps contribute by providing an easily accessible and vast library of political information for the average person. I think it is important to have organizations like PVS to ensure that when voters go to the polls they know why they are voting for their candidate.
