The opening ceremony for the 2012 summer Olympics officially begins on Friday July 27th, but here at Project Vote Smart we’re interested in a different race – the Presidential Election. And while the 10,500 athletes are proudly representing their respective countries, Project Vote Smart staff and interns are hard at work researching the over 40,000 candidates and officials fighting to represent us.
Diligent work and preparation has been going on in the background for months, as we continue to collect abundant, accurate and relevant information on presidential, congressional, gubernatorial and state legislative candidates.
Encourage your representative to give it their all and show you what they’re made of by completing the Political Courage Test. That way candidates can shade in some grey areas and tell you their stances on issues that matter to them, you, and all Smart Voters.

The Project Vote Smart Intern Olympics is a prestigious event that challenges our national interns to retrieve a greasy watermelon, play rock-paper-scissors with over 40 people, and win critically important wheel-barrow races (you need to relieve some stress after 8 hour days of research, for 10 weeks in a row).

We're still collecting thousands of speeches and public statements so that you can search them by keyword and see if your representative is sticking by his or her word.
