Project Vote Smart is often confused with a number of other entirely separate organizations. If you see our name invoked in a context that seems unrelated to the work that we do, the likelihood is that such confusion is taking place. Most often, this problem arises when people get us mixed up with Project Vote, an organization that has partnered with ACORN in the past. Due to ACORN's high profile in the news right now, you will likely see much more of this name mix-up than usual between Project Vote and Project Vote Smart. This blog entry, on the website American Thinker, provides an example of this confusion in action. The author states that "Obama actually worked with ACORN in the early 1990's on Project Vote Smart." He clearly meant to refer to Project Vote rather than PVS (and as a side note, if those claims that President Obama was connected to ACORN piqued your curiosity, this Politifact.com article discusses the merit of such claims.) So please take any articles that refer to PVS in a suspicious context, with a big grain of salt.
