"Third-checking"--it's a phrase I've heard often at Vote Smart.  My first week I "third-checked" new entries in the membership database.  I discovered only a few needed changes:  some periods to add to abbreviations and a spelling or two to correct.  At Vote Smart, EVERYTHING is third-checked.  In 30 years of working with and consulting about large databases, I've never seen such commitment to accuracy.
