Vote to concur with House amendments and pass a bill that enables restaurants that provide live entertainment, require cover charges, and serve alcohol at reduced prices to maintain restaurant status and not conform to zoning restrictions normally placed on bars.
- Finds restaurants' primary function as serving food, including the serving of alcoholic beverages with meals (Sec. 1). -States that restaurants that provide live entertainment, require cover charges, or serve alcohol at reduced prices, are allowed to maintain their status as long as food and non-alcoholic beverage sales exceed fifty percent of their total average monthly revenue (Sec. 1). -Does not limit local parishes and municipalities from establishing more strict regulations on restaurants (Sec. 1). -Allows restaurants to continue selling alcohol even if, in the future, their parish or municipality is merged with one that does not permit alcohol sale (Sec. 1). -Provides an exception to law for parishes with populations between 40 and 45 thousand (Sec. 1).
