Title: Expanding Hate Crimes Classification to Homeless
Vote to pass a bill defining homeless persons as a protected class within the scope of existing hate crimes legislation.
- Takes effect on October 1st, 2008. (Sec. 2) - Defines homeless as lacking a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence; or having a residence that is (I) a supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations; or (II) a public or private place not designed for or ordinarily used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human beings.' [Sec. 1 (B)]
