Title: Establishes Sentencing for Crimes due to Drug-Related Deaths

Vote to pass a bill that establishes mandatory minimum sentences for crimes due to drug-related deaths in the state of New Hampshire.

Highlights:

  • Classifies the following drugs as liable for death (Sec. 1): 

    • Methamphetamine;

    • Lysergic acid; or

    •  diethylamide phencyclidine.

  • Establishes that any person who manufactures, sells, or dispenses the aforementioned drugs as being strictly liable for any death which results from the injection, inhalation, or ingestion of those substances (Sec. 1). 

  • Requires that any person liable for the aforementioned violation shall be sentenced for no less than 10 years of imprisonment up to a lifetime of imprisonment (Sec. 1). 

  • Expands the specifications regarding prosecuption for homicide in which the manufacterer, seller, or dispenser was too remote in its occurence to have just bearing on the persons liability (Sec. 1) 

  • Authorizes the act to take effect on January 1, 2025 (Sec. 2).
