Title: Requires Mandatory Minimum Sentences for Individuals Convicted of Trafficking Fentanyl
Vote to pass a bill that requires mandatory minimum sentences for individuals convicted of trafficking fentanyl.
Requires mandatory minimum sentences for individuals convicted of trafficking fentanyl (Sec. 2).
Increases mandatory minimum sentences for fentanyl trafficking to the following (Sec. 2):
For between 4 and 14 grams of fentanyl (100-200 pills) a prison term of no less than 3 years and fine of not more than $10,000;
For between 14 and 28 grams of fentanyl (250-500 pills) a prison term of no more than 5 years and fine of no less than $15,000;
For 28 grams of fentanyl (500+ pills) or more a prison term of no more than 10 years and fine of no less than $25,000; and
A maximum sentence of life imprisonment and $100,000 fine for a drug induced homicide.
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect immediately July 1, 2024 (Sec. 4).
