Title: Amends the Maine Human Rights Act Regarding Right-to-sue Letters
Vote to pass a bill that amends the Maine Human Rights Act regarding right-to-sue letters.
Specifies that a right-to-sue letter may be issued if the following situations are met (Sec. 1):
If the commission has not filed civil action after 180 days;
The individual is determined to have good cause for a right-to-sue letter;and
That it is determined that the commission will not finish its work before the 180 day limit.
Specifies that if a right-to-sue letter is sent then the Maine Human Rights Commission shall end its investigation into the matter (Sec. 1).
