Title: Prohibits Landlords from Rejecting a Tenant on Income Grounds
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits landlords from rejecting a tenant on income grounds unless their monthly income is less than two times the monthly rent.
Prohibits landlords from rejecting a tenant on income grounds unless their monthly income is less than 2 times the monthly rent (Sec. 1).
Prohibits a landlord from using a renters credit history, or lack of a credit history outside of the previous 7 years as a criteria for rental application consideration (Sec. 1).
Establishes a penalty of $50 for landlords found to have violated the aforementioned provisions upon first violation and a $2,500 penalty for landlords upon second and subsequent violations (Sec. 3).
Specifies that the provisions of this bill shall take effect 90 days after the adjournment date of this current legislative session (Sec. 6).
