Title: Prohibits Using the Public Threat Alert System for Executive Orders
Vote to pass a bill that prohibits using the public threat alert system to transmit an announcement of a new law or executive order.
Defines “public threat” as any of the following, including (Sec. 2):
An act of terrorism;
An unresolved mass shooting or shooting spree;
A natural disaster including a severe storm or flood;
An industrial explosion;
A train derailment; or
An announcement of an endangered missing individual.
Prohibits the public alert system plan from being activated to transmit an announcement of a new law or executive order, including transmitting to a wireless device through the existing wireless emergency alert system operated under federal law, unless necessary to transmit an announcement to respond to the immediate loss of life or property (Sec. 3).
