Vote to pass a bill that authorizes the state auditor to audit police deadly use of force investigations.

Highlights:

• Authorizes the state auditor to conduct a process compliance audit procedure and review at the conclusion of any deadly force investigation to determine whether the actions of the involved law enforcement agency, investigative body, and prosecutor's office are in compliance with the investigation and reporting of incidents involving the use of deadly force (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes the state auditor to conduct an audit procedure on any law enforcement agency to ensure the agency is in compliance with all laws, policies, and procedures governing the training and certification of peace officers employed by the agency (Sec. 2).

• Requires that a copy of any completed audit must be sent to the commission, law enforcement agency, city or county council, county prosecutor, and relevant committees of the legislature (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits a law enforcement agency from paying any costs or fees for an audit (Sec. 3).

• Specifies if funding for this act is not approved in an omnibus appropriations bill, this act is null and void (Sec. 4).
