Title: Prohibits Burning Coal After 2022
Vote to amend and pass a bill that prohibits burning coal after 2022.
Probits the public utilities commission from approving the following after June 30, 2020 (Sec 2):
Any new or renewed power purchase agreement that proposes to burn or consume coal to generate electricity; or
A modification of a coal power purchase agreement that proposes to extend the term or increase the amount of generation that is allowed to be produced under the existing agreement.
Authorizes the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR) to issue or renew a permit to an owner or operator of a covered source that will burn or consume coal to generate electricity; provided that as a condition of the permit, all coal burning will cease on December 31, 2022 (Sec 3).
Specifies that after December 31, 2022, the DLNR will not issue or renew any permit to an owner or operator of a covered source that will burn or consume coal to generate electricity (Sec 3).
