Title: Appropriates $10 Million to the Maryland Violence Intervention and Prevention Fund
Vote to pass a bill that appropriates $10 million to the Maryland Violence Intervention and Prevention Program.
Authorizes the governor to annually appropriate $10 million to the Maryland Violence Intervention and Prevention Program Fund (Sec. 1).
Requires the governor to annually include an appropriation of at least $3 million to the Maryland Violence Intervention and Prevention Program Fund in the annual budget bill (Sec. 1).
Requires the governor to appropriate $3.6 million to Baltimore City to be used to provide grants to community-based operations that operate violence prevention or intervention programs by a community-based organization in a neighborhood that is disproportionately affected by violent crime, called the Safe Streets Initiatives (Sec. 1).
Prohibits a grant made with funds by the Safe Street Initiative from (Sec. 1):
Requiring a matching fund;
Exceeding $600,000 per initiative; or
Supplant grant funding otherwise available for Safe Street Initiatives.
