Vote to pass a bill that authorizes criminal records expungement for certain crimes.

Highlights:

• Requires any non-public records for those who have had a conviction expunged will be maintained (Sec. 1). 

• Prohibits an expungement from being used to seek resentencing in another case in which the expunged record was used to determine sentencing (Sec. 1).  

• Authorizes those who are displeased with a court ruling on an expungement application to file an appeal or seek a rehearing under the applicable rules of the court (Sec. 1). 

• Specifies that the expungement of a conviction does not entitle the applicant to the return of any fines, costs, fees, or property forfeited as a result of the conviction (Sec. 1).
