Vote to pass a bill that establishes the Independent Redistricting Commission for the State of Delaware, which will be responsible for drawing the boundaries of the state's legislative districts every 10 years.

Highlights:

• Establishes the Independent Redistricting Commission for the State of Delaware to redistrict House and Senate legislative districts following each federal census (Sec. 2).

• Requires the 9 member commission to consist of the following (Sec. 2):

• 3 retired judges or attorneys;

• 6 citizens;

• 3 members from each of the 2 largest political parties; and

• 3 politically unaffiliated members.

• Requires members of the commission to be residents of Delaware and qualified voters (Sec. 2).

• Prohibits members from being within the past 5 years any of the following (Sec. 2):

• Federal or state lobbyist;

• Officer of a federal or state political party;

• Officer of a campaign committee; or

• Elected federal or state official.

• Specifies that the Delaware Supreme Court has exclusive jurisdiction to review plans adopted by the commission (Sec. 2).
