A vote to pass a bill that authorizes the expression of religious or political viewpoint in public schools and post-secondary schools without discrimination.

Highlights:

• Authorizes students to voluntarily express religious or political viewpoints in school assignments (Sec. 1).

• Requires religious and political organizations to have equal access to public forums on the same basis as nonreligious and nonpolitical organizations (Sec. 1).

• Prohibits any religious or political student organization from being treated differently than a non-religious or non-political organization in the ordering of the public forums or in their internal affairs (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes students to display religious messages on items of clothing to the same extent that a student may display non-religious messages (Sec. 1).

• Authorizes a teacher to teach about religion with the use of a bible or other scripture, without providing religious instruction, as well as teach about religious holidays and celebrate the secular aspects of such holidays (Sec. 2).
