Vote to pass a bill that prohibits city and county governments from enacting ordinances relating to employment that conflict with state law, effective immediately.

Highlights:

• Prohibits city and county governments from adopting or enforcing any ordinance or resolution which exceeds or conflicts with federal or state law and which provides for terms of employment, including, but not limited to (Secs. 2, 4):
• The minimum or living wage rate;
• Employment leave;
• Employment benefits;
• Hiring practices; and
• Scheduling practices.

• Prohibits city and county governments from adopting or enforcing any ordinance or resolution that sets standards or requirements regarding the sale or marketing of consumer merchandise that are different from, or in addition to, any requirement established by state law (Secs. 1, 3).

• Specifies that any ordinances or resolutions adopted before the effective date and which are different from or in violation of state or federal law will be void and unenforceable upon the effective date (Secs. 1-4).
