Vote to pass a bill that amends certain public education regulations.

Highlights:

• Requires an individual to meet certain qualifications to teach a class or program in sex education, including the following qualifications (Sec. 18):
• The individual is a school employee with a valid teacher certificate;
• The individual is supervised by a certified teacher employed by the school; and
• The individual is approved by the school board and reviewed by parents.

• Requires the curriculum, literature, and materials used in a sex education class or program to be approved by the school board and made available to parents for review (Sec. 18).

• Prohibits the Department of Education from requiring a school to administer a statewide standards-based assessment between July 1, 2016 and July 1, 2018, unless federal education funding is withheld as a result (Sec. 10).
